Only participants and officials (persons authorised by the club) may enter the competition area.
The participants of the competing teams must be on site 20 minutes before the start of the competition. Additional team members may join later.
Participants under the age of 18 are generally permitted. They must be accompanied by an adult.
If a team does not turn up, the club reserves the right to nominate a team at short notice, e.g. on the basis of a waiting list.
Until the start of the competition is announced and the stopwatch is running, the puzzle boxes or puzzles may not be tampered with, unsealed or opened.
Officials will monitor the competition and record the times of the participating teams. When a team is close to completing a puzzle, a team member should raise their arm to alert the officials so they can record the time. After checking for completeness, the time is noted by the officials and passed on to the head referee.
Once the puzzle has been completed and checked for completeness, the next puzzle can be started immediately. The team decides for itself whether to remove the most complete puzzle from the table for the time being. The risk of mixing up puzzles or losing pieces is the responsibility of each team.
If pieces are missing at the end of the puzzle, these will be noted in the timekeeping and taken into account when determining the total number of pieces placed.
If the last puzzle is not completely solved, the officials will count the correctly placed pieces and note them down. Groups of three or more correctly connected puzzle pieces are considered correctly placed.
Sorting aids or plates may be used as aids. These must be brought by the teams themselves. Holders for cardboard lids are also permitted. Headphones are permitted as long as they do not disturb other participants.
Counterparts that change the height or arrangement of the tables are not permitted. In addition, additional light sources and stencils representing the puzzle maker's pattern are not permitted.
Any assistance during the competition by anyone other than the four active team members may result in disqualification of the team.
All puzzles used in the competition become the property of the teams at the end of the competition.
