The maximum number of participants is 128. Two participants compete directly against each other in each round.
In each round, two people put together a 99-piece puzzle. All puzzle pieces lie open on the table. The edge is already folded.
The participants take it in turns to pick a puzzle piece that fits the puzzle already laid out. The time is timed using a chess clock (e.g. ChessClock on a mobile phone), with everyone having 5 minutes.
Whoever runs out of time first or whoever has the least time left at the end when all the puzzle pieces have been placed loses the duel and is eliminated. The winner advances to the next round.
